A Little About Us...

The Children's Playhouse is an accredited school that has been in operation since 1985 is owned and operated by Rovitta Paul. This facility comfortably and safely accomodates 39 children. The school was founded on the principal that we value the active involvement of parents in our program, both through classroom participation and volunteering. These activities enable the children to see their parents as important and concerned members of the new school environment, while providing parents with opportunities to view the child with teachers and other children. School then becomes a shared experience, which hopefully will continue throughout each child's educational process. In order to meet the needs of the ever rising need for child care, Mrs. Paul opened a second site, The Children's Playhouse, too!, on 31 West Avenue in the heart of South Norwalk which accomodates an additional 31 children. Her daughter, Tasha Roper, M.Ed. , operates this site. This dynamic pair ensure that all children and families of all cultures and languages are serviced. Each facility is staffed with qualified, according to the NAEYC standards and School Readiness, and have experience with children between the ages of 3 to 5-years-old.

Our Curriculum Philosophy

The curriculum at The Children's Playhouse is based upon the philosophy that children learn through day-to-day experiences. Learning requires active thinking and experimenting. During the pre-school years, play is one of the most fundamental activities of the child. Play is an important preparation step to learning highly abstract symbols such as letters and numbers. Our curriculum is based on "Teaching Strategy's" Creative Curriculum which is aligned with the Connecticut Frameworks for Pre-School. The most important goal of our curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners.
Using age appropriate curriculum designed to meet the developmental needs of each child, the followings are our goals for your child's growth.
